A Salina man was arrested for reportedly attacking a woman and an officer.

According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on August 1 at about 1:20 am, officers were dispatched to a southeast Salina home for the report of a domestic disturbance.

A 43-year-old female victim called 9-1-1 and stated that she had been attacked by Kyle Nelson (43), a known associate.

Reportedly, both were at a bar in Saline County where they got into an altercation, and Nelson strangled and struck her. An individual in the area intervened and the victim was able to leave the area and went to her home.

Nelson then arrived at her home and began attacking her, according to SPD.

An officer arrived on the scene to find Nelson attacking the woman in the front yard. Nelson then ran away and the officer pursued.

Once the officer caught up to him, Nelson reportedly struck the officer multiple times in the head area.

Nelson then ran away again, but the officer pursued him once more and brought him down. A scuffle occurred between the two and more officers arrived on the scene, where Nelson was eventually arrested.

He was then booked into the Saline County Jail in reference to Aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, Criminal damage to property, Possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and Aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer.

Alcohol was a factor in Nelson's arrest, according to SPD.

The officer was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for a concussion and was released.
