Paul Dean Elsey, 87 of Glenwood, Iowa formerly of Concordia, Kansas passed away February 10, 2023. He was born June 9, 1935 in Meredith, Kansas to Kenneth Eugene and Adalia Teresa (Richard) Elsey. He was raised in Kansas along with his four siblings. He faithfully served his country in the Army during the Cuban Crisis from 1957-1959.

Paul Dean was united in marriage to Mary Sue May on February 12, 1965 in Concordia, Kansas. To this union two daughters were born, Rachelle and Genie. They raised their family in Glenwood, Iowa and were members of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Paul Dean drove a truck for Ideal Truck Line and he also farmed in rural Mills County. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Some of his interests included fishing, hunting, playing cribbage and driving around in his big red pickup. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding Paul Dean in passing were his parents, siblings Leon (Ginny) Elsey; Milly Remily; Richard Elsey and brother-in-law Mike Johnston. Survivors include his wife Mary Sue Elsey of Glenwood, Iowa; daughters Rachelle (Eric) Larsen of Kimball, Minnesota; Genie (Pete) O’Grady of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Megan (Jonathan) Marshall of Glenwood, Iowa, Emily Wickham of Omaha, Nebraska, Katelyn Parsons of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dylan Parsons of Kimball, Minnesota, Grant Wickham of Omaha, Nebraska, Madison (Jason) Arth of Lidgerwood, North Dakota, Alix Larsen and Brandt Larsen of Fargo, North Dakota; great-grandchildren Mack T and Gage Dean Marshall of Glenwood, Iowa; Emmett and Tripp Arth of Lidgerwood, North Dakota; sister Patricia Johnston of Concordia, Kansas; brother-in-law Ronnie Remily of Hemet, California; sister-in-law Margot Elsey of Florida; nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Interment: St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas May 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m., with Fr. Metz presiding.
