Obituary for Marcia L. (Manning) Carter | Ryan Mortuary

June 14, 1945 ~ December 17, 2022 (age 77)

With heavy hearts, but uplifted eyes, we announce the passing of Marcia L. Carter, on Saturday, December 17, 2022.  She was greeted at heaven’s gates by those who passed before her, her mother, Clara Riddle in 2006, son Cory Nickel in 1969, brother Marshall Manning in 1962 and sister Lila Walz in 2011.

Marcia was born on June 14, 1945 in Oberlin, Kansas to Clarence “Bud” and Clara (Counter) Manning.  The family moved to Oakley, in the early 1950s.  Marcia graduated from Oakley High School in 1963.

She eventually moved to Salina and married Michael Carter on November 9, 1979.

Marcia was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987.  Although she faced many health challenges related to this diagnosis, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ compelled her to maintain a positive attitude and outlook on life that is, and always will be, an example to us all.

Left to mourn her passing is her husband Michael; stepfather Roy Riddle; sons, Dion (Mary) Nickel, Troy (Susan) Nickel, all of Salina; granddaughters Miranda (Preston) Murchison, of Lenexa, KS, Sandra (Brett) Jensen, of Waxhaw, NC, Savannah (Jack) Mangelsdorf, of Lawrence, KS; great-granddaughter Everly Murchison, of Lenexa; brother Ray (Linda) Manning, of Oakley, KS; sister Cindy (John) Koch of Edmond, OK and brother Derek (Michele) McKellips, of Salina.

Memorial services have already taken place.  Burial was in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
