LINDSBORG - It just wasn't the Coyotes' night. Kansas Wesleyan struggled to shoot the basketball, shooting 32 percent for the game, while the Bethany College Swedes shot 54 percent from the field as the Swedes beat the Coyotes 84-66 on Wednesday night at Hahn Gym.
Bethany jumped out to a 16-6 lead to start the game as the Coyotes opened the game hitting just two of 15 shots. The Swedes pushed the lead out to 28-8 on a 12-0 run with 9:44 to go in the first half.
The Coyotes finished the game on a bit of a run. KWU trailed 79-49 with 4:37 left in the game when Wesleyan went on a 17-3 run to cut the difference to 16 at 82-66 with 1:09 left on a 3-pointer by Cam Stevenson, who saw varsity action for the first time this season.
Alex Littlejohn led the Coyotes with 13 points while Evens Appolon added nine points and nine rebounds in the game. KWU outrebounded Bethany 36-33 in the game. KWU had 17 offensive rebounds, but just 11 second chance points.
