AMARILLO, Texas – The Surge were held scoreless until the top of the fifth inning. Down a run, Leobaldo Cabrera picked a great time for his first home run for the Wind Surge. Cabrera’s solo home run easily cleared the left field wall and tied the game at 1.
The Sod Poodles went on to score eight more runs to take a commanding 9-1 lead.
Wichita scored four runs in the top of the ninth to give the Surge some life. Chris Williams and BJ Boyd led off with back-to-back doubles to score Wichita’s first run since the fifth inning. Andrew Bechtold then drew a walk to put two on and no one out for Trey Cabbage. Like Cabrera, Cabbage picked a great opportunity for his first home run in a Wind Surge uniform. Cabbage’s three-run blast was a no-doubter and plated three more runs for Wichita. The Sod Poodles shut down the Surge for the last three outs and managed to take game four 9-5.
In his eighth start of the season, Chris Vallimont went 3.1 innings allowing just one run on three hits and struck out six. Jordan Milbrath pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings out of the bullpen. Milbrath surrendered just three hits in his outing.
