
Alma Mae (Van Meter) Webster, Wichita, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2021. She was born November 15, 1926 on a farm in Ada, Kansas to Abraham and Daisy (Spence) Van Meter. She was a graduate from Ada High School, Coffeyville Community College, Kansas State University and St. Paul School of Theology. Alma’s career began as an elementary teacher, Girl Scout Administrator, Kansas Wesleyan Administrator, American Baptist Churches USA in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania for Small Churches in 37 states, Topeka Police Department Chaplain, CASA Volunteer, Topeka, Kansas and over her lifetime has been very active in her church families. Alma grew up in an agricultural community, very family-oriented and professed her love of the Lord. As a Reverend, she touched many family members lives through marriage and also funerals.
Alma married the love of her life, Leo Webster, and were married September 15, 1947 in Ada, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Leo Webster; her parents, Abraham and Daisy Van Meter; 6 sisters (Phyllis, Virginia, Alice, Lottie, Violet and Sadie) and 4 brothers (James-Skinny, Louis-Monk, Lee, Francis-Stub); and a great-great granddaughter, Casya Faith McFadden.
Alma is remembered by her four children: Theo Webster of Orlando, Florida; Melvin (Nadine) Webster of Salina, Kansas; Edwin (Beth) Webster of Salina, Kansas; and Crissie (Randy) Moffet of Wichita, Kansas; 6 granddaughters, 1 grandson; 3 great grandsons; 9 great granddaughters; 1 great-great grandson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation without the family present will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, January 31 at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis. Celebration of Alma’s Life will be Monday, February 1, 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis, Salina, Kansas with the Reverend Dee Ann Mezger of Lawrence and Pastor Dr. Kevin Hazelton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Ada. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice of Wichita or the First Baptist Church of Salina and may be left in care of the funeral home.
