A Salina based produced film looks to put the 'city on the map' and the filmmakers can use your help to complete it.
10 years in the making is the Salina based produced film "Limerence," which is a mixed-media film (half is hand drawn animated and the other half is in person) and the Kansan filmmakers is starting a fundraiser to complete the movie.
According to Salina Writer and Director of the film Isaiah Marcotte, 'Limerence' is a "Rock-Opera film," with the movie itself having a complete album soundtrack.
"This (film) is 10 years put in of all the available time that we had,” said Marcotte. “This is the one thing that I have been working on for the last 10 years, which has been full of countless hours.”
According to Marcotte, the soundtrack is entirely produced by local musicians.
The soundtrack has not been released yet.
According to Marcotte, the money spent on this film were entirely out of his 'producer team’s pockets from their day jobs.' Marcotte believes this film will be an ‘important cultural staple in Kansas.’ He claims that they have received a great response, after early cuts of the movie that have been shown.
"We want to put Salina on the map with the film," said Marcotte. "We also want to present the work out of over 50 artists in the community that have helped contribute their time."
This film however cannot put 'Salina on the map' if it does not get finished. The filmmakers have decided to launch a fundraiser dedicated to the completion of the film, that will occur on Saturday, June 28th from 4:00 pm - 11:00 pm at The Temple on 336 S. Sante Fe (3rd floor).
A 'kickstarter' will be launched as well on the 28th where people wanting to donate can do so online. The link to the kickstarter is https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/calebvoyles/limerence-feature-film-and-album
According to Marcotte, an 11 minute sneak peak of the film will be shown during the fundraiser. A panel discussion will also occur during the fundraiser.
