A time for treasure hunting is coming up next week at the Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC) Service Auxiliary's Fall Rummage Sale.
The rummage sale is scheduled for Sept. 18-21 in the 4H Building at Kenwood Park. Rummage sale times are as follows.
Sept. 18: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sept. 19: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sept. 20: 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
Sept. 21: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
And if you have items that you no longer consider treasures, the auxiliary can help you out as well, according to Carol Brent, fall rummage sale chairperson.
Brent told Salina Post that donations for the upcoming rummage sale will be accepted at the back door of the 4H Building from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Tax receipts are available, she added.
"We cannot accept tires, air conditioners, freezers, refrigerators, and hazardous waste," Brent noted.
"The Salina Regional Health Center Service Auxiliary provides meaningful support for our community hospital and the patients and families we serve," said Tom Martin, executive director of the Salina Regional Health Foundation. "Members of the service auxiliary give of their time, talent, and financial resources, to improve the health and quality of life for people in Salina and our regional community."
The rummage sale has a long history, Brent said. Prior to the merger of Asbury Hospital and St. John's Hospital into SRHC, each hospital had its own fundraising rummage sale going back decades, she explained.
Brent said that over the years, the auxiliary has had a multitude of fundraisers, including book fairs, linen sales, the Parade of Homes, fashion shows, scrub sales, jewelry sales, and, of course, the spring and fall rummage sales. Additionally, the auxiliary operates the SRHC gift shop, she noted.
According to Brent funds raised during those events and in the gift shop support the community by helping to fund the following.
The Rebecca A. Morrison House
The Donna Vanier Children's Center
The Tammy Walker Cancer Center
Medical education scholarships
The American Red Cross Blood Donation Center
The KU School of Medicine
Olivia’s Playground
Cell phone charging stations in SRHC
Reclining chairs in the ICU waiting room at SRHC
"The value and meaning behind the service auxiliary to Salina Regional Health Center is beyond measure," Martin noted.
Membership in the auxiliary is $10 per year. Persons interested in joining may call Bonnie Anderson at 785-827-3385 for an application, Brent said.
