Gene George Foster, Jr., was born on March 15, 1942, in Dalhart, Texas, the son of Gene George Foster, Sr., and Mary L. (McAdams) Foster. Gene grew up in Dalhart, Texas, graduating from Dalhart High School.

Following high school, Gene started working for the Rock Island Railroad as a fireman and brakeman. Gene was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1963, and was deployed overseas to Vietnam, and was honorably discharged on December 3, 1965. On December 4, he was engaged to his sweetheart Elaine Wallace, and they were married on April 3, 1966, in Goodland, Kansas. To this union of 55 years, two sons were born, Gene George III and William Lloyd.

Gene returned to work for the Rock Island, and later the Kyle Railroad, where he retired after over 30 of service, as a conductor/engineer. Besides the railroad, Gene also worked in construction and as an over-the-road truck driver.

Outside of work, Gene enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was a long time member of the Calvary Bible Church in Jewell, Kansas.

Gene passed away at his home on December 4, 2021, on the 56th anniversary of his engagement to Elaine, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 19 days.
