Sacred Heart and Beloit St Johns open the season at Sacred Heart on Tuesday, with the Lady Knights winning big 63-28, and the Sacred Heart Knights holding off the Bluejays 67-50.

Girls: Sacred Heart 63, St. Johns Beloit 28
The Lady Knights found themselves locked in defensively only allowing 6 points in the first quarter. Addie Lee and her younger sister Emmy Lee would help the Lady Knights extend their lead and lead 34-18 at intermission.
Going into the third quarter the Lady Knights weren’t letting their foot off the petal, only allowing 4 points in the third quarter. Three pointers started to fall, and the Lady Knights open the season with a win, 63-28.
Sacred Heart was led in scoring by Addie Lee and finished her evening with 22, and her younger sister Emmy finished with 16.
On the other side of the matchup Ava Brummer led the way for the Lady Bluejays with 101.
The Lady Knights move to 1-0 on the season and look ahead to Friday to play the Clifton-Clyde Lady Eagles.
Boys: Sacred Heart 67, St Johns Beloit 50
On the boys’ side, both teams locked in on defense as the score was 9-7 at the end of the first. The Knights were led by Will Tuttle in the second to extend their lead 31-20 at intermission.
From there, Luke Koland was all over the court poking the ball out and the Knights would capitalize off the turnovers and lead 47-34 going into the final quarter. In the final quarter the free throws from Will Tuttle sealed the deal as the Knights win 67-50
Will Tuttle led the team in scoring with 24, while Luke Koland had 10.Maddox Wells and Noah Hines finished with 9 apiece.
The Bluejays were led in scoring by Edward Horinek he finished with 23.
The Knights start the season off 1-0 and look to Friday as they travel to Clifton Clyde to take on the Eagles.
