KWUs Donovan sets new school records, dominates field at Central Plains Invitational

Abby Donovan set a pair of new Kansas Wesleyan women's golf school records and dominated the field to claim the individual championship and help the Kansas Wesleyan women's golf team to a second place finish at the Central Plains Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Salina Country Club.

On Monday, Donovan set a new school record for a single round score, carding a 4-under par 68, breaking the previous record of 72 last achieved by Hannah Hart in the 2022-23 season.

Donovan also set a new 2-round individual scoring record for the Coyotes, shooting an even par 144 for the tournament, breaking the previous record of 148 set in 2014-15 by Kamie Rash.

Donovan rolled to a 5-shot win in the tournament over Dodge City's Gaemphuang Ketrahong.

Sarah Krenowicz finished tied for ninth with a 161, Chaney Littell tied for 18th with a 170, Ryan Warren finished 26th with a 175, and Savanna Nickum tied for 27th with a 177.

KWU's B Team finished eighth in the team standings. Magen Dow tied for 18th with a 170, Kelsey Essex tied for 35th with a 181, Emily Stamper tied for 35th with a 181, and Abby Day was 47th with a 206.

Dodge City CC was the team champion with a score of 614. KWU was second with a 647, Southwestern Christian was third with a 676, Friends was fourth with a 677, Garden City CC was fifth with a 678.
