WICHITA — Brianna Hernandez-Silva (SR/Las Vegas) and Shayna Murape have earned the KCAC Women's Flag Football Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from March 13-19 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented at the conference level by Equity Bank.

Offensive Player of the Week

Brianna Hernandez-Silva
Hernandez-Silva was huge for the Coyotes in their 20-18 win over Midland, as she threw a 16-yard touchdown pass as time expired to give the Coyotes their second KCAC win of the season and hand Midland its first loss of the year. Hernandez-Silva was instrumental in helping KWU rally several times in the game, and led the Coyotes down the field on the final drive that started with 36 seconds left. She was 20 of 28 passing for 212 yards and two touchdowns, and added 73 yards rushing and a score as well. This is the second time this season that Hernandez-Silva has been named the KCAC Women's Flag Football Offensive Player of the Week.

Defensive Player of the Week

Shayna Murape
Murape was a big part in helping KWU win 20-18 over Midland. KWU's defense held Midland to only three first downs and 211 yards of total offense. She had six flag pulls to lead the KWU defense. This marks the second time Murape has been named the KCAC Women's Flag Football Defensive Player of the Week.
