Elsie Elizabeth (Bowman) Wray, 88, of Pomona, Kansas died Sunday, June 23, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Pomona, Kansas surrounded by family.

She was born August 9, 1935 in Boones Mill, Virginia the daughter of John and Susie (Beckner) Bowman. 

On August 9, 1959, Elsie was united in marriage to Leonard Wray in Boones Mill, VA.  They shared 54 years of loving marriage until Leonard’s passing on April 26, 2014. 

Elsie was born and grew up on a farm in Franklin County, VA.  Upon marriage, she moved to Franklin County, KS and lived with her husband, raising her children on their farm.  Elsie was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed working in her beautiful garden and flowers.  She could often be found working on some project at her house.  She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, especially making her children and grandchildren’s clothes.  She confirmed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at a young age. She was a member of the Eight Mile Old German Baptist Brethren Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Susie Bowman, and her husband, Leonard Wray.

She is survived by two children, Ben Wray and his wife, Leah, of Pomona, KS, and Linda Jamison and her husband, Delbert, of Pomona, KS; three brothers, Jerry Bowman and his wife, Loretta, of Pendleton, IN, Harvey Bowman and his wife, Betty, of Brookville, OH, and Howard Bowman and his wife, Mildred, of Boones Mill, VA; seven grandchildren, Devin Wray and his wife, Hannah, of Ottawa, KS, Kaylene Steelman and her husband, Shane, of Ottawa, KS, Kristy Daniel and her husband, Carter, of Gardner, KS, Kara Wray of Roeland Park, KS, Michelle Jamison of Fort Worth, TX, Chelsea Mietchen and her husband, Evan, of Ottawa, KS, and Monica Jamison of Pomona, KS; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  Elsie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She always greeted you with a smile and will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Eight Mile Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Centropolis, KS.  To celebrate Elsie’s life, a visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S.
