TULSA, Okla.- The Wind Surge fell short in the series finale against the Tulsa Drillers 3-0 on Sunday afternoon behind home runs from Carson Taylor and Jonny DeLuca as the Drillers clinched the Propeller series for the first time.
Carson Taylor got things started for Tulsa as he broke the tie in the bottom of the second inning with a home run to give the Drillers a 1-0 lead. Taylor finished three for three with an RBI in the afternoon.
Tulsa scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth courtesy of a home run from Jonny DeLuca to extend the Drillers lead to 3-0.
Kyle Hurt got the start on the mound for Tulsa and pitched four scoreless innings and allowed four hits and recorded seven strikeouts before being revived in the fifth inning. The Drillers bullpen pitched five scoreless innings as Keegan Curtis earned his second win on the year.
Notes: Chris Williams snapped an eight game hit streak… The Surge fell to 5-13 against the Drillers this season… Chris Williams ended his hit streak at nine games…Wichita was shutout for the fourth time this season…The teams have each one The Propeller in its first two season of existence.
