Salina voters can learn about city commission candidates during an upcoming candidates forum.
The Salina Area Chamber of Commerce and Salina League of Women Voters are sponsoring a virtual candidates forum beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The event will be streamed by Smoky Hill Public Television with no audience in attendance. The public can view the event live on Smoky Hill PBS Facebook page. To watch the event live online visit Smoky Hills PBS Facebook page.
The forum will be moderated by Frank Hampton, former chamber chairman of the board and Amy Adams of the Salina League of Women Voters.
The format of the forum will consist of one-minute opening remarks by each candidate, questions from a media panel, submitted questions from the general public, and one-minute closing remarks by each candidate. Candidates will have one minute to answer questions.
Candidate profiles are available at the Saline County Clerk’s office, the Salina Public Library, and the chamber office, 120 W. Ash Street. Profiles for all who responded also are available in pdf format on the chamber website.
According to the official list of candidates on the Saline County Clerk's website, the following people are running for one of three at large positions on the Salina City Commission.

Elise S. Carter
Chad Farber
Michael L. Hoppock
Jerry R. Ivey II
Greg Lenkiewicz
Bill Longbine
Matthew M. Smith
Of those running, Hoppock is the only one currently serving on the Salina City Commission. Aaron Peck and Melissa Rose Hodges chose not to run for re-election.
