Two Saline County students are the recipients of Kansas Tractor Club scholarships this fall.
Owen Bradley, a 2020 graduate of Ell-Saline High School
Bradley, the son of Jamie and Darcy Bradley, has been attending Salina Tech while attending Ell-Saline high school during his junior and senior years in high school. He plans to finish his degree in diesel mechanics and graduate 2021. Bradley plans to return to work with his cousins on the family farm, Came Farms, that his mother and uncle have northwest of Salina.
Noah Patry, a 2020 graduate of Southeast Saline high school
Patry, the son of Terry and Donna Patry and the grandson of Jim Patry, is attending Hutchinson Community College to study diesel mechanics. He is the youngest of three boys and is looking to work for a farm or a dealership when he finishes school.
Founded in August 2012, the Kansas Tractor Club is a group of people, mostly farmers and retired farmers, who want to preserve the history of farming through the preservation of antique tractors and other farm implements. Members dues and other events throughout the year, including the annual tractor drive the first Saturday in May, help pay for scholarships for students attending a two or four-year college. Most years the club will award a $1,000 scholarship and a $1,000 restoration grant. Since no one applied for a restoration grant this year, the club awarded two scholarships.
Both students applied for the scholarship online at www.KansasTractorclub.com. It is the hope of the organization that anyone who plans to attend a two- or four-year college after high school and study in a field related to farming, agriculture, or mechanics, will apply for the scholarship. Scholarship applications are accepted prior to July 15. All scholarships will be reviewed and the winner will be awarded on or before Sept.15, according to information from the club.
