Avelina Javier (Nanay) Cunningham, 83, of Grafton, Illinois passed away Thursday, July 29, at Evelyn's House, Creve Coeur, Missouri.
Avelina was born in Manila, Philippines on September 2, 1937, a daughter of Adriana (Javier) and Benito Hernandez.
Avelina attended the Manila grade schools, Manila, Philippines.
She was a member of New Legacy Church McPherson, Kansas.
Avelina was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked on the production line for Central Plastics.
Avelina enjoyed cooking, working in her yard and gardening both vegetable and flower, and spending time with her family.
Avelina Javier Hernandez was united in marriage to Eugenio B. Villanueva. This union was blessed with the birth of six children, three sons, and three daughters, Roberto, Marilyn, Rolando, Marissa, Zenaida, and Rodelio. Eugenio died in February 2001. Avelina Villanueva was united in marriage to John Duane Cunningham on July 6, 1996. John died on December 28, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Roberto Villanueva, of McPherson, Kansas, Rolando Villanueva, and wife Lita, of Philippines, Marissa Foster and husband Tom, of Grafton, Illinois, Zenaida Tocayon and husband Nonoy, of Philippines, Rodelio Villanueva and wife Elvie, of McPherson, Kansas; her sister Beatriz Hernandez, of Washington; her 35 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Avelina was preceded in death by her parents Benito and Adriana Hernandez; her husbands Eugenio Villanueva and John Cunningham; siblings, Miguela Fernandez, Rita Conception, Carding Hernandez, Sony Hernandez, and Joaquin Fernandez; and daughter Marilyn Indorf.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the New Legacy Church, McPherson, Kansas.
The funeral service will be held at New Legacy Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, with Pastor Wayne Rowley officiating.
Final resting place will be the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
