Despite losing the two fastest individual runners in Class 3A the Southeast of Saline Cross Country team didn’t miss a beat, with both teams taking dominant wins at this year’s Abilene Invitational.

The podium was once again packed with purple as the two teams accounted for five of the six medalists in a field of 5-6 schools.

On the girl's side, senior Ashley Prochazka brought home the top spot, winning her race comfortably with a time of 21:04.9.

Prochazka was followed by Abby Commerford in second, with freshman Breckyn Alderson impressing in her varsity debut taking a fifth-place finish just ahead of Cali Augustine in sixth.

In addition to taking four of the top-ten spots, the Lady Trojans also snagged eight of the top 20, accounting for 40% of that top tier.

All-in-all, Southeast took the top team finish with 25 points, 18 clear of their next closest competitor in league rival Sacred Heart.

On the boy’s side, things looked even more dominant as junior Levi Allen waltzed to a race win with a time of 16:59.4.

Allen’s teammates would secure a sweep of the podium as freshman Brayden Walker arrived in style with a second-place finish followed closely by Damion Jackson in third.

SES missed filling out the top five by just one spot as Cayden Walker came home in fifth, followed by another impressive debut run by freshman Jacob Bircher who finished eighth.

The Trojans finished the day with 19 points, blowing the field out of the water with a 43-point gap separating SES from the next best team in Marion.

The Trojans and Lady Trojans will be eager to continue their respective seasons at the Wamego Invitational on September 10th.
