Kansas Wesleyan men's soccer picked up its third straight win on Wednesday night with a 3-1 win over the Bethel Threshers at Thresher Stadium.

The Coyotes improved to 4-10-1 overall and 3-6 in the Kansas Conference with the win.

The victory also extended a pair of streaks for the Coyotes against Bethel. It was the 14th straight victory for KWU over the Threshers, and KWU has an overall 18-match unbeaten streak against Bethel, going 17-0-1 since 2005.

The Coyotes had to play from behind after giving up a goal in the 20th minute to Lucas Pardo from Bethel.

Luis Simbron (SR/Miami, Fla.) found the equalizer in the 34th minute. Ivis Gutierrez (SR/Los Angeles, Calif.) made a run down the middle, and handed off to a streaking Simbron who dribbled into the box, outracing three Bethel defenders and shooting inside the far post from 12 yards out.

The score would remain 1-1 into the half.

Alfonso Lopez (JR/Fontana, Calif.) would score the match-winner for a third consecutive time in the 51st minute.

After KWU was called for offside, waving off a goal, Bethel had a throw-in. Lopez would steal the throw-in pass, and outrace three Bethel defenders down the right seam, shooting from just inside the penalty area and in for the goal.

Lopez would cap the scoring with an 85th minute goal. Lopez corralled an errant shot and then shot from 15 yards out and hit the far post and in for the goal making it 3-1.

KWU outshot Bethel 18-9 in the match. Simbron and Lopez had six each for the Coyotes. Oswaldo Diaz-Lopez (FR/Bryan, Texas) had a pair of saves in the match.
