Jack Eugene Ludwig passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in Salina. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on July 21, 1929 to Hugh and Mabel Ludwig.
Jack was an Eagle Scout at the First Presbyterian Church in Hutchinson. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947 and attended Hutchinson Junior College where he was a member of the track team. In 1951, Jack graduated from Emporia State University and joined the Air Force. Jack was stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois until 1955 when he left the military and married Ann Coleman. They began their married life in Manhattan, Kansas and Jack worked for Federated Insurance. In 1970 they moved to Salina and Jack became a partner in Insurers and Investors, Inc.
Over the years Jack enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, watching the Kentucky Derby, and attending Kansas State football and basketball games. After retiring, Jack and Ann spent winters in Florida along with friends from Salina. He liked playing cards and attending weekday coffee meetings at McDonalds.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his son Jeff J. Ludwig.
He is survived by his wife Ann of Salina, and daughters Lori Watson (Dale) of Papillion, Nebraska and Paige Enriquez of Salina; grandchildren Whitney McMillen (Randy), Callie Pavel (Brady), Rhett Enriquez (Lacey), Cortland Enriquez, and Jack Jaden Enriquez; and great-grandchildren Elizabeth Ann, Benjamin Owen and Huxton Dale.
A service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church at 308 S. 8th Street in Salina. Visitation will be at Ryan Mortuary on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. that evening.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church.
