Police are investigating as arson an east Salina pickup fire early this morning.
Officers were sent to the 1700 block of E. Iron Avenue for the report of a vehicle on fire. When they arrived, they found a 2021 Ford F250 fully engulfed in flames, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. The pickup, valued at $30,000, belonged to KLA Environmental Services of Scott City.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:50 a.m. Wednesday.
Forrester said that evidence at the scene was consistent with the pickup being set on fire intentionally.
A witness reported seeing a white van, possibly with two men inside, leaving westbound from the area, Forrester said. Another witness reported hearing a loud boom and then observed the pickup on fire.
Forrester said police are looking for surveillance video from the area that might aid in the investigation.
