Two reels of copper wire that were stolen from the Evergy facility in Salina in September of 2021 were found southeast of the city Thursday.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning that a Saline County Sheriff's deputy located the two reels of No. 4 copper wire Thursday in the 7400 block of S. Simpson Road. The reels, valued at $500 each, were returned to Evergy.
The reels were among the items stolen from the Evergy facility at 1001 Edison Place between Sept. 8-10, 2021, when someone cut the chain link fence on the west end of the Evergy property, Forrester said in a briefing Sept. 13, 2021. In addition to the reels, items stolen included the following.
●900 feet of No. 4OT copper wire
●250 feet of No. 4 copper wire with heavy insulation
●Miscellaneous Makita power tools
Total loss at the time of the report in 2021 was estimated in excess of $3,800.
