The Southeast of Saline boys basketball team took the opening round of the Trojan war in style with a 78-58 beatdown of Beloit.

The SES offense came out on fire, dropping 20 or more in each of the first three quarters on their way to their high offensive watermark of the season.

“We started hot,” Southeast head coach Bryson Flax said. “We wanted to limit them to one shot per possession and that was the key early on. “We were getting after it on the glass and getting out on the run to find easy buckets in transition.”

SES was led in scoring by another big 24-point night from Eli Sawyers. Sawyers was joined in double digits by Nakari-Morrical Palmer and Danny Kejr who dropped 13 and 11 respectively.

“Eli continues to make really good decisions in the post and I thought that carried on when Nakari got touches as well,” Flax said. “We’re better shooters off paint touches and we have to continue to get to good spots.”

Depth won the day for SES as the Southeast bench outscored Beloit’s 22-1 in a 20-point victory.

Beloit got good performances from their starting five with four Trojans in double digits but SES shut down sophomore forward Bryce Beisner who got just ten in the loss.

The Trojans will be back in action next Tuesday when they travel to Abilene to take on a ranked 4A foe in the form of the Cowboys.
