SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect for alleged theft by deception.

On July 3, employees of Marshall Motors, 3500 S 9th Street in Salina, reported that on June 19, a subject who was identified as 46-year-old Kara Runyon of Abilene purchased a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee, valued at over $63,000, with a check, according to Salina Police Captain James Feldman.

The business was later contacted by the bank which advised the check was written on a closed account. The business reached out to Runyon in an effort to rectify the situation, but Runyon would not return to the business.

The Abilene Police Department was contacted, and they located Runyon and the vehicle. Runyon was transported to the Saline County Jail and booked in on requested charges of Theft by Deception, Making False Information and Giving a Worthless Check. The vehicle was returned to the business.
