Gary Dale Peckham, 71, of Salina, was born in Salina, on November 6, 1950. After a three-year fight with lung cancer, he passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
He graduated from Salina High School in 1968 and Salina Vo Tech in January 1970 with a degree in diesel mechanics. He spent the next 44 years "turning wrenches," as he called it. His work took his family from Salina to Denver then to Fort Smith, Arkansas, and back to Salina. He retired from Foley Eq.
At 15, he met the love of his life, Linda White. They were married July 26, 1969. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2019 with an Alaskan Cruise. They decided they couldn’t top that. He was an avid outdoorsman learning from his father-in-law.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda; daughters Jeri Peckham (Terry Davis), Jeni Gregg (Jeremy); five grandchildren, Jordan Owings (Aaron), Cory Peckham (fiancé Jasmine Tabares), Zac Peckham, Kyle Peckham and Ella Gregg; sister Mary Jo Clements of Las Cruces, NM; mothe-in-law Katherine White; in-laws Cindy Lively (Jeff), Elena Thelen; Mike White (Tammy); nine nieces and nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Berdine; grandparents; father-in-law Mike White, Sr.; brothers-in-law Roger Searcy and Frank Thelen III.
Gary chose cremation. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary with Pastor Blaine Herron as officiant.
