WINFIELD - Kansas Wesleyan Men's Soccer picked up an important 2-1 win over the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Saturday at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.
The victory boosts the Coyotes' record to 10-3-3 overall and 7-2-2 in the KCAC. KWU had 23 points in the conference table, just a point out of third place, behind York. The win also gives KWU more space ahead of fifth place Southwestern with 18 points.
Next week is the final week of the KCAC regular season before the conference tournament starts in two weeks.
Noel Zimbeva got the Coyotes on the board in the 29th minute taking a one-time pass from Quatama Massaquoi and moved through traffic unchallenged, unleashing a rocket-speed shot that hit off the far post and in for the goal.
Southwestern got the equalizer in the 34th and the match went to intermission tied.
The Coyotes got the match winner in the 60th minute from Brennen Lamont. He took a pass from Gonzalo Gaubeka and sent it home.
The Coyotes outshot Southwestern 13-4 in the match led byy three from ZImbeva.
