Michael “Wally” Roy Gray, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 11th, 2025, peacefully in the presence of his family

Mike was born in North Platte, Nebraska on September 11, 1959, to Bob and Lois Gray (Camenga).

Mike (Wally) grew up in Imperial, Nebraska and graduated from Chase County High School. He spent many weekends and summers farming with his family. He maintained his love of farming throughout his life by helping various farmers around Salina and he had a large garden for many years.

Mike has spent the past 30 years as a mechanic on industrial turbochargers for Cooper Machinery Service in Salina, Kansas.

In his free time, he loved skiing, hunting, ATVing, watching Nebraska Husker football and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was an avid welder, and he created some beautiful metal sculptures. Wally was not a stranger to anyone, and he leaves behind a large host of friends and family. There was nothing more important to him than keeping in touch with those he cared about.

Survivors include his mother, Lois Gray; sisters, Gretchen Sutherland (Tim), Carrie Johnson (Brian); brothers, Kass Gray (Melinda), Todd Gray (Maureen), Dirk Gray (Sandra) and his devoted and loving dog Bella.

He is also survived by nephews and nieces, Jill Smith, Brooke Kotz, Kyle Gray, Adam Johnson, Karlee Grant, Skyler Sutherland, Alex Gray, Brittney Scherrer, Kade Gray, Joel Gray and numerous great nephews and nieces.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Robert Gray, paternal grandparents, Roy and Mary Gray, maternal grandparents, Silas and Lillian Camenga.

Mike chose cremation and services will be announced at a later date.

Donations made in Mike’s memory will be directed to, Kass Gray, for future charitable giving in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.
