Salina man arrested after traffic stop in Dickinson Co. uncovers meth, illegal firearm

An early morning traffic stop in Solomon led to the arrest of a Salina man on multiple charges, according to a media release from Dickinson County Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on September 6, Dickinson County Sheriff's deputies pulled over a 2002 GMC Sierra pickup in the 300 block of West Fourth Street of Solomon for a defective tail lamp.

The driver, identified as Dan Leroy McConnell, 53, of Salina, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Upon further investigation, deputies discovered methamphetamine inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle also uncovered a shotgun, which had a barrel shorter than the legal limit of 18 inches.

McConnell was arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Detention Facility. His charges include driving while suspended, possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and criminal carry of a weapon.
