New KSHSAA district assignments unveiled for 2022-23

With the new KSHSAA class alignment set to take effect next season, there will also be a shakeup in team assignments for district football play.

On Wednesday, KSHSAA released the full list of district assignments, including those for our nine area schools.

Some of the districts will look drastically different while others will remain completely unchanged from years past.

Here are the district assignments for our area schools.

Schools: Salina South and Salina Central
District: 5A West
Competitors: Andover, Goddard, Goddard-Eisenhower, Great Bend, Hays, Hutchinson, Liberal, Maize, Maize-South, Newton, Valley Center, Wichita-Bishop Carroll, Wichita-Kapaun Mt. Carmel, Wichita-West

School: Abilene
District: 4A West
Competitors: Andover-Central, Arkansas City, Augusta, Buhler, Coffeyville-Field Kindley, El Dorado, Independence, McPherson, Mul­vane, Rose Hill, Towanda-Circle, Ulysses, Wamego, Wellington, Winfield

School: Chapman
District: 3A District 6
Competitors: Clearwater, Hesston, Wichita-Collegiate, Wichita-Trinity Academy

School: Southeast of Saline
District: 2A District 5
Competitors:  Ellsworth, Halstead, Hillsboro, Lyons

School: Salina Sacred Heart
District: 1A District 5
Competitors: Belleville-Republic County, Blue Rapids-Valley Heights, Smith Center, Wabaunsee

Schools: Ell-Saline and Bennington
District: 8-Player DI District 5
Competitors: Clifton Clyde, Lincoln, Mankato-Rock Hills, Washington County

School: Solomon
District: 8-Player DI District 4
Competitors: Goessel, Herington, Little River, Moundridge, Pretty Prairie
