Charles “Charlie” Joseph Vondra, 92, passed away November 14, 2022 in Ellsworth. He was born July 4, 1930 in Ellsworth County to Frank and Mary (Svara) Vondra.
He went to country school through 8th grade and then attended Ellsworth High School.
Charlie married Gloria Milbradt in Ellsworth on February 17, 1963.
Charlie served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953 and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He was a business owner of Ellsworth Truck and Tractor as well as the Lyons Inn. He was also a farmer and a stockman. He was a member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post #174, Ellsworth VFW Post #6485, and a member of the Ellsworth First United Methodist Church. Charlie loved his Lord and Savior, his family, and his friends.
Charlie is survived by his daughter Tami McGreevy (Kyle) of Ellsworth; son Ted Vondra of Salina; granddaughter Kyli McGreevy of Ellsworth; grandson Jace McGreevy (Danielle) of Lorraine; great-granddaughters Emma and Josi; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Gloria; brothers Fred and Frank Vondra; nephew Steve Vondra; and great-nephew Ryan Vondra.
Visitation: Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 1:00-8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m, at Parsons Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2022 at the Ellsworth First United Methodist Church, with burial following in the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.
