Kansas Wesleyan Competitive Cheer hosted its annual competition on Friday night inside Mabee Arena, and the Coyotes came away victorious twice. KWU claimed the cheer competition title, then bested Bethany in a dual.

The Coyotes bested the seven-team field in the first competition finishing with a score of 73.65.

Ottawa finished second with a score of 71.4, Williams Baptist (Ark.) was third with a 66.1, Bethel was fourth with a 62.2, McPherson was fifth with a 59.3, Southwestern was sixth with a 51 and Bethany was seventh with a score of 44.2.

The second competition, which was originally planned as a 3-team competition, turned into a dual after Williams Baptist pulled out after the main competition.

"I am so proud of our team and how we performed today," Wesleyan head coach Antonio Snyder said. "We really improved over our first competition last week, and brought it tonight in front our fans. The energy was unreal in the arena. I am so proud of our efforts tonight."

In the dual with Bethany, the Coyotes won with a score of 74.9, while Bethany had a 51.5.

The 74.9 is one of the highest scores for the Coyotes in program history.

The Coyotes are back in action next Saturday at Bethel, where they will compete in three different competitions hosted by the Threshers.
