CONCORDIA - A complete-game, one-hit shutout last week against Seward County Community College has led to Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Baseball Pitcher of the week for Cloud County Community College sophomore Conner Woods.

Serving as Cloud County's closer throughout the year, Woods would be tasked with a different job this past weekend by starting game two of a four-game series against the Saints. Not only would Woods make the most of the opportunity on the mound, but the Winfield, Kansas native would pick up his third win of the year by throwing a complete-game one-hit shutout to allow CCCC to sweep a Thursday doubleheader. With a no-hitter intact and Seward County down to their final out, Woods would see Cloud County's first complete game no-hit bid since 1999 come to an end with a single back up the middle. Following the two-out single, Woods would induce a pop-out to end the game and finish by facing just two batters over the minimum (the other coming on an error) and strike out a career-high 11 batters.

Including Woods, Cloud County has now had three KJCCC Baseball Players of the Week in the 11 weeks that players have been honored this season. Previous KJCCC Players of the Week for CCCC include sophomore Ian Riley and freshman Tom Poole.
