
The Kansas High School Athletics Association announced new classifications for football teams across the state of Kansas which are set to take effect in 2022.
The number of schools in Class 6A, 5A, and 4A will be reduced to 32, with 40 schools making up classes 2 and 3A.
For these top five classes, the only area school to see a change will be Southeast of Saline, who will drop to 2A along with eight other current 3A schools.
The new 1A class will consist of 43 schools, 8-Man Division I will and Division II will hold 48 and 42 respectively and the newly formed 6-Man division will consist of 26 schools.
Ell-Saline will be the only local mover among the smaller schools, dropping to 8-Man Division I along with three other current 1A teams.
