K-State WBB Hosts Iowa State on Thursday Night

MANHATTAN, Kansas - (11/11) K-State (19-2, 7-1 Big 12) closes out the month of January on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m., as the Wildcats host Iowa State (15-7, 6-3).

• The Wildcats enter Thursday’s game with a 13-game home winning streak. This is the 10th-longest home court winning streak in program history and the sixth-longest at Bramlage Coliseum. A win Thursday would tie for the eighth-longest overall for K-State and tied for the fifth-longest in Bramlage.

• Thursday’s game will air on ESPN, as Eric Frede (play-by-play) and Christy Thomaskutty (analyst) will have the call.

Five names, numbers or storylines about K-State women’s basketball

1. Sundell Approaching Rare Club

• With six blocked shots, senior guard Serena Sundell will become the sixth player in program history and the first guard with 100 or more career blocks and 100 or more career steals.

2. Happy Helpers

• K-State features four players with 50 or more assists this season: Serena Sundell (153), Zyanna Walker (93), Jaelyn Glenn (61) and Taryn Sides (55). If Temira Poindexter (42) reaches 50 assists this season, this would mark the fourth time in program history with five or more players with 50 or more assists.

3. Cats Pacing the Nation

• K-State leads the nation in assists per game (22.5) and assisted shot rate (72.0%).

4. Trio of 3-Point Shooters

• The trio of Temira Poindexter (52), Taryn Sides (49) and Jaelyn Glenn (39) are on pace to become the fourth set of K-State teammates and first since 2012-13 to make 50 or more 3-pointers in a season.

5. Sundell Nearing Big 12 Assist Top-10

• With 23 assists, senior guard and All-America candidate Serena Sundell will move into the top-10 in Big 12 history for career assists. Sundell has dished 699 assists in her career and would pass Toccara Williams (Texas A&M, 2001-04; 724).

At a Glance: Iowa State

• Iowa State (15-7, 6-3 Big 12) enters Thursday’s game with five wins in their last six games including a 90-56 win over UCF on Jan. 25.

• On the sideline, Iowa State is guided by 30th-year head coach Bill Fennelly. In his time with the Cyclones, Fennelly has achieved a record of 626-320 (.662). Fennelly is the longest tenured head coach among the Big 12’s head coaches.

K-State Top-20 in NCAA History for Wins

• K-State is in its 57th season of action and ranks among the top programs in NCAA history for all-time wins.

• K-State’s all-time record stands at 1,062-666 (.615) and the Wildcats entered the 2024-25 season ranked 20th in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history for program wins. The Wildcats were the 19th program in NCAA Division I history to reach 1,000 or more wins as a program and are one of three members of the Big 12 (Baylor, Utah). K-State is averaging 18.5 wins per season.

• K-State is one of three teams in the nation to be guided by an active head coach with 650 or more career wins and the program has surpassed the 1,000-win mark (UConn, NC State).

• The Wildcats have accumulated 27 20-win seasons and have secured 409 victories inside Bramlage Coliseum.

• K-State has 239 wins in the Big 12 Conference.

• The Wildcats recorded a 15-game home court winning streak, which was the longest in-season win streak since 2002-03 (19). When including its two wins in the 2023 WNIT at the end of the 2022-23 season, K-State won 17 consecutive home games, which was the longest in the Jeff Mittie era, the fifth-longest in program history and the second-longest at Bramlage.

• In his career in games played in his home venue, Mittie is 413-113 (.785) including a 139-48 (.743) record at K-State.

• Kansas State has protected Bramlage Coliseum with determination against non-conference foes with a record of 238-30 (.888). Mittie is 84-9 (.903) in non-conference games in Bramlage.

• K-State is on a school record pace for scoring margin in the 2024-25 season.

• The Wildcats own a scoring margin of +29.2 this season, which leads the Big 12 and ranks third in the nation.

• K-State has won all 19 games this season by 12 or more points including 14 wins by 20 or more points.

• K-State’s margin of victory of 86 against USC Upstate on Dec. 5, was the largest in program history, surpassing the previous record of 78 on Dec. 2, 2002, against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
