July 1, 1948 - August 11, 2021

Ronald’s life began on July 1, 1948, the son of Jacob and Hulda (May) Dies in Hillsboro, Kansas. He graduated in 1966 from the last graduating class in Lehigh and married Ruthann Elliott on March 1, 1984, in Hutchinson, Kansas.

He worked at Agco for 13 years as a quality assurance technician. He also worked in construction for 30 years and then owned and operated his own construction company for 20 years. He enjoyed woodworking and going to the coffee clutch in Lehigh. He had an alpaca farm, played softball and basketball in high school, and donated his time to help build the American Legion Building in Hillsboro.

His loving family includes his children, Jennifer Dies of Newton, Ronald Lee Dies Jr (Denaye) of Lehigh, Heather Lengerich (Matt) of Draper, Utah, Andrew Dies of Nacogdoches, Texas, Billy (Robin) Dies and David Lofton (Angel) all of Hillsboro; sister, Carol Wilkening of Lehigh; brother, Robert Dies; grandchildren, Wyatt Dies, Samantha Lengerich, Tyler Lengerich, Mason Lofton, Tyler Lofton and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruthann Dies in 2020; son, Derek Lofton; grandson, Jacob Lengerich; siblings, Victor Dies, Harry Dies, Helen Simon, Loretta King, Mildred Steinle, and Betty Martens. Ron passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at the age of 73 years old.

His family will gather to greet friends on Thursday, August 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Parkview Mennonite Brethren Church, 610 S. Main Street, Hillsboro, Kansas 67063.
