SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Kansas Wesleyan men's volleyball saw its inaugural season come to a close as the Coyotes fell to Morningside in straight sets, 25-14, 25-17, 25-15 – on Saturday in the GPAC Tournament.
KWU started strong in the first set leading 3-1, but a 12-4 for the Mustangs made it 13-7. Morningside later extended its lead out t0 20-11 before taking the first set 25-14.
The Coyotes led early in the second set as well, but Morningside would take a 15-9 lead and the Coyotes could not get closer than six points the rest of the way.
KWU led 7-6 in the third set, but four straight Morningside points made it 10-7. KWU came back to tie it at 10 on back to back blocks by Christopher Perez (FR/Denver, Colo.) and Frank Kassem (FR/Miami, Fla.), but a 10-1 run from Morningside made it 20-11.
Perez and Viet Nguyen (FR/Wichita, Kan.) had six kills each to lead the Coyotes. Colton Sessions (FR/West Palm Beach, Fla.) had six assists and seven digs leading the Coyotes.
KWU closes its inaugural season at 2-18 overall.
