Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that his office is investigating the case of the body found southwest of Salina as a homicide. At approximately 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, the body of a male in his early 40s was found near the intersection of S. Halstead Road and W. McReynolds Road.
Soldan said this morning he anticipated that his office would release the name of the deceased later today after notification of next of kin.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man in his early 40s after a body was found southwest of Salina this morning.
According to information from Sheriff Roger Soldan, a body was located near the intersection of S. Halstead Road and W. McReynolds Road at approximately 10:50 a.m. Tuesday. The body was that of a man in his early 40s. No other identifying information has been released.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Scene Response Team has been called in to assist with this investigation, Soldan noted in a news release.
Persons who witnessed any suspicious activity in this area or think they may have information in reference to this incident are asked to contact the Saline County Sheriff’s Office (785) 826-6500 or the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-KSCRIME.
This investigation is in progress and information will be released as it becomes available, according to Soldan.
