Proclamations, appointments, a replacement fire station, and land annexation are among the many items on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday.
About the meeting
Study sessions and city commission meetings will take place in–person in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street, and via Zoom until further notice. Meetings also can be viewed at the City of Salina YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/cityofSalinaKansas.

The meeting also can be accessed by phone at 1-346-248-7799. Enter Meeting ID:892 7598 4587 when prompted.
If citizens wish to speak, either during the public forum or when the mayor requests public comment on an item, citizens attending via Zoom must raise their hands so that the meeting host can allow them to speak. Those who attend the in-person meeting will have the opportunity to speak at the podium.

In order for the commissioners to have an opportunity to review comments in advance of the meeting, please email your comments or questions by 5 p.m. the Sunday prior to the Monday meetings.
Study session
Commissioners are scheduled to begin with a study session about the Salina Grace Day Shelter at 2:30 p.m. Salina Grace is asking the city for financial support for its program to assist the homeless in Salina. To see the packet for the study session, click here.
Regular meeting
The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. A time for public comment is scheduled near the beginning of the meeting.
Commissioners are being asked to approve the following two proclamation requests.
●Consider proclaiming the week of Feb. 20-26, 2022, as Engineers Week in the City of Salina. Kris Upson, president of the Smoky Valley Chapter of KSPE, is scheduled to read the proclamation.
●Consider proclaiming the month of February 2022 as Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month in the City of Salina. Angie White, parent/child advocate for DVACK, is scheduled to read the proclamation.
Commissioners also are scheduled to consider approving a number of citizen appointments to various city boards, including the following.

Additionally, commissioners are scheduled to consider a resolution authorizing and providing for the design and construction of a new Fire Station No. 4 and authorizing the issuance of temporary notes and/or general obligation bonds to pay for the cost of the new station. It is proposed that the fire station be relocated to the southeast corner of the E. Crawford Street/Markley Road intersection.
Other items on the Salina City Commission agenda for Monday include the following.
●Consider approving on second reading a proposed ordinance that would amend the Salina Zoning Ordinance to establish regulations for short term RV parking at travel plazas, hotels, and motels and add short-term RV parking as a conditional use in the C-5 and C-7 zoning districts.
●Consider approving resolutions appointing members to the Salina Field House Qualified Active Low-Income Community Business, Inc., and the Salin Field House Leverage Lender, Inc., to the unexpired terms of former commissioners Melissa Rose Hodges and Rod Franz.
●Consider approving a resolution authorizing the purchase and installation of a prefabricated metal building in the General Services compound to house automated sanitation packer trucks.
●Consider approving an ordinance on second reading requesting the annexation of a 53.26-acre tract of land located east of Centennial Road between Schilling Road and Magnolia Road.
●Consider approving on second reading exempting certain property belonging to McShares, Inc., from taxation for the purpose of economic development. According to information in the city commission meeting packet from last week, McShares, Inc., doing business as REPCO, plans to expand its local headquarters and its warehouse and manufacturing facility located at 1835 E. North Street.
