Students at KSU Salina had the privilege of learning what it's like to drive with impaired vision, during a simulation with the Saline County Sheriff's Office.

Throughout this simulation called the Simulated Impaired Driving Experience, students were able to get a first-hand experience that portrayed the dangers of driving impaired. These occurrences can happen in people who have poor eyesight and/or under the influence.

This event also was a great opportunity for the students to build relationships and connections with local law enforcement.

KSU Salina junior, Cole Kramer gave his comments on what he took away from the simulation.

"At the event, we learned about the effects of alcohol and drugs and what it really takes to get a DUI," said KSU Salina junior, Cole Kramer. "We even got to try a go-kart that simulated drunk driving, used “drunk goggles” to try to walk a straight line, and tested a calculator showing how long alcohol stays in your system. The whole point was to remind us that it’s always better to just call an Uber than risk driving under the influence."
