KANOPOLIS - Margaret Lee Pierson, 74, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022, in Ellsworth. She was born October 20, 1947, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI to Richard and Ruth (Geschke) Bates. Margaret married Larry Houk on March 9, 1963. After Larry’s passing June 12, she later married Jerry Pierson on August 24, 1972.

Margaret was a longtime employee of the United States Postal Service where she had many positions including mail carrier for many years. She loved to fish, play bingo, and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by her son Larry Houk, Jr. (Dani) of Ellsworth; daughters Shamarie Farthing (Chris) of Ellsworth and Christy Pierson of Salina; grandchildren Katie Ranker (Joe) of Ellsworth, Kourtney Strobel (Chas) of Plymouth, MN, Kitsy Krehbiel (Colter) of Marquette, Kylie Pierson of Wichita Falls, TX, Kori Pierson of Salina, and Sam Farthing (Kaitlyn) of Hays; and great-grandchildren Henri, John, Abel, Kadence, Beckham, Lane, Kelli, Korbin, Kreighton, and Aria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Mary Ann Bates; husbands Larry Houk and Jerry Pierson; and companion Bud Tiemeyer.

Cremation has taken place and no public services are planned at this time.
