ABILENE - The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man whose body was found this morning near the Smoky Hill River bridge on Kansas Highway 15.
According to a release from Dickinson County Sheriff Jerry Davis, sheriff's personnel, as well as those from Dickinson County Emergency Medical Services, and the Abilene Fire Department were dispatched to the Smoky Hill River bridge just south of Abilene at approximately 6:50 a.m. Tuesday. There they discovered a deceased male subject with an apparent gunshot wound.
The sheriff's office has not yet released the name of the man, pending notification of family.
The sheriff noted that the investigation is ongoing and no further information would be released at this time.
