A heated water dish is being blamed for a fire that destroyed hay and damaged a shed in far northern Saline County Friday afternoon.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that deputies and personnel from Rural Fire District No. 3 were sent to 7829 W. Satanta Road at 1:53 p.m. Friday for the report of a shed on fire.

When emergency personnel arrived, they found the 12-foot by 30-foot shed ablaze. Total loss, including to hay in the shed, was estimated at $10,000, Soldan said. The property belongs to Candace Zachgo, of Tescott.

Soldan said that 27 head of sheep that were kept near the shed were not injured.
