CANYON, Texas – A change of scenery and location did little to stop the Cloud County Community College men's track and field teams from posting a trio of first-place finishes on day one of the West Texas A&M Jo Meaker Classic and Multi-Events at the WTAMU Track and Field Complex in Canyon, Texas on Friday.

With three multi-event athletes and javelin throw Caden Bach participating on opening day, the T-Birds would have a strong showing as Marcquiece Cade (second), Andrew Betton (third), and Renaldo Savoury (eighth) all eclipsed the 3,000 point mark after five of the 10-event decathlon. Bach would wind up winning the javelin with a new personal-best throw of 59.47 meters (195 ft. – 1 in.)

Among the individual time and marks within the decathlon, it would be an event win for Andrew Betton in the high jump by clearing 2.05 meters (6 ft. – 8.75 in.) while Cade would finish second after clearing 1.90 meters (6 ft. – 2.75 in.). Cade would go on to post an event win in the 400 meters with a time of 51.76 while Betton would take third (52.23) and Savoury would take sixth (55.28). Among the other top marks from the trio on Friday would include a second-place finish in the long jump (6.70 meters, 21 ft. – 11.75 in.) and fourth-place finishes from Betton in the 100 meter dash (11.19) and Cade in the shot put (10.98 meters, 36 ft. – 0.25 in.).

What's next?
