An estimated $13,000 worth of tools were stolen from a construction trailer in north Salina earlier this week.
Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said this morning that representatives of Busboom and Rauh Construction and Hutton Construction told officers that sometime between 1:30 p.m. Sunday and 1 p.m. Monday someone broke into a construction trailer at a storage site in the 1200 block of E. North Street and stole approximately $13,000 worth of construction hand tools.
Hanus said that a comprehensive list of stolen tools was still being compiled, but that some of the tools known to be missing included laser levels, hammer drills, and regular drills. Additionally, the locks on two other construction trailers were damaged.
Total damage to the three trailers was estimated at $1,500, he said.
