Dori Whiteley, 63, passed away Monday August 19th, 2024. She was born in Salina, Kansas to Bruce and Nancy Whiteley.
Dori graduated Kansas Weslyn University with a bachelor’s degree, major in English and minor in communications. She lived most of her life in Salina with a couple of those years in Wichita, Kansas.
Dori worked most of her career at Tony’s Pizza Service in Product Development as an administrative secretary. She also had the pleasure of working at one of the leading radio stations in town as a copy writer and even had the opportunity to speak on commercials. She was able to use her creative thinking skills working at the Type Setter in Wichita, Kansas.
Dori loved her family and friends and enjoyed family gatherings.
Survivors include parents, Nancy and Bruce Whiteley, sister and brother-in-law, Stacy and Arnold Croomes, Two nieces, Nickole Croomes, Danielle Jones and husband Tanner Jones. Three great nieces and one on the way, Chantelle Jones, Leyah Jones, Ruby Jones and baby girl Jones due in December.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with the funeral service following at 11 a.m., both at New Community Christian Church, 530 E Cloud St, Salina, on Friday, August 30, 2024.
Dori will be laid to rest at Abilene Cemetery along side of her grandmother Maxine Rider, who she dearly loved.
Memorials in her honor go to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
