
George M. Champlin, age 91, of Concordia, KS, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS. He was born on October 17, 1934 in Jamestown, KS to Reynard H. & Mildred N. (Moffett) Champlin.
George married Nancy Paul on August 31, 1957 in Scottsville, KS. George was drafted and served in the US Army for two years. During one of those years, he was stationed in Germany. Nancy was able to join him during his service there. She preceded him in death in 2023.
After his military service, George was employed first for KP&L. He went on to work for Messers (now Big A Auto Parts), the Keebler Cookie Co. and finally retired from Wilson’s Furniture in 1995 after many years in sales. That position included measuring flooring, mixing paint, delivering Lazy Boys on Christmas Eve, and fixing whatever was scratched, broken, or needed assembled.
George was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge. George was also a member of both the American Legion Post #76, VFW Post #588.
George was a loving and supportive husband and father. He also was a very proud grandfather as well as a great grandfather. His many friends could attest to how loyal and generous he was; not only with his time but also his talents. George never knew a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anyone.
George is survived by his sons, Steve Champlin (Kari), Concordia, KS, Greg Champlin (Mary), Garden City, KS & Curt Champlin (Amy), Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Kayla Brown (Jordan), Janae Champlin, Derek Champlin, Carly Suther, Zachary Champlin, Logan Champlin, Cooper Champlin & Carter Champlin; great granddaughter, Hailey Suther and sister in law, Katherine Paul, Jamestown, KS.
He was preceded by his wife, Nancy, his parents, brother, Gary Champlin & sisters, Marcia Champlin and Carolyn Cordwell and husband, Elmer.
Memorial services will be 10:00 am, Friday, December 12, 2025 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS with Pastor Al Paredes officiating. Burial will follow at the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, KS. Visitation will be Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 1-8 pm with the family greeting friends from 6-7 pm all at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church. Memorials to a local organization or even helping a neighbor this holiday season would also honor George’s memory.
