You can help the American Red Cross alleviate the country's historically low blood inventory by donating blood during the Eagle Radio Blood Drive on Jan. 13.

"Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Donors hold the key to humanity by helping ensure patients in need have access to lifesaving blood products over the winter months. Donors of all blood types are needed to give now to ensure blood is available when patients need it," the American Red Cross noted.

You can help by signing up to give life-saving blood during the Eagle Radio Blood Drive from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 13 at 1825 S. Ohio Street. To make your appointment go to www.redcrossblood.org, or call 800-RED-CROSS, or search for this drive on your Blood Donor App – sponsor Keyword: eagleradio.

Did you know that January is National Blood Donor Month? Resolve to be a regular blood donor and help save lives. Then begin fulfilling that resolution by giving blood at the Eagle Radio Blood Drive.

Those who give blood in January at an American Red Cross blood drive will automatically be entered for a chance to win a getaway to Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles. As an extra thank-you from the Red Cross, those who donate will also be automatically entered to win a home theater package and a $500 e-gift card. Terms apply. Visit RedCrossBlood.org/SuperBowl for more information.

Safety is a top priority for the American Red Cross. Each Red Cross blood drive and donation center has always followed the highest standards of safety and infection control. During this pandemic, the Red Cross has additional precautions in place to ensure the employee, volunteer and donor safety, including the following.

●Requiring face masks and social distancing for all individuals.

●Providing hand sanitizer for use before entering the drive, as well as throughout the donation process.

●Continuing enhanced disinfecting of surfaces and equipment.

●Emphasizing the importance of appointments to help manage the flow of donors at drives.
