Salina’s final live First Friday of the season, scheduled for Friday, October 4, will showcase a variety of art, music, and cultural events throughout downtown. The evening will allow residents and visitors to explore local talent and get a glimpse at the new BOOM! murals.
Local music group Everyday Lights will perform on the City Lights Stage, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This live performance will close out the series of musical acts that have taken place throughout the First Friday season.
Another event taking place is the opening of the art exhibit Departures: The Art of Leaving This Place, hosted by the Central Kansas Death Care Collective (CKDCC). The exhibit, which focuses on death awareness and the art of departure, will be held at the Peaceful Body Wellness Retreat at 148 South Santa Fe Avenue in downtown Salina. The opening runs from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with remarks at 5:30 p.m.
The Greater Salina Community Foundation will host a special showing of original artwork by Caitlin Veazey Welch at their office located at 119 West Iron Avenue. The exhibit will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., showcasing Veazey Welch’s intricate creations, ranging from abstract to mixed-media art.
In addition, Subvert Studio will feature Tom Fleming’s art exhibit Hortis Conclusis at 116 East Iron Avenue. The exhibit will be open to the public from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., allowing visitors to explore Fleming’s unique artistic perspective.
A special photography exhibit by Eric Lorson, known as FishBones Photography, will also be part of First Friday. This exhibit will take place at A Work In Progress Yoga Studio, located at 218 East Walnut Street, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Lorson, a local photographer, will present his work which spans live music, astrophotography, and landscape photography.
