Rolling Hills Zoo is has announced it has been awarded $75,000 through the Kansas Attraction Development Grant program to support the creation of its highly anticipated Tiger Falls exhibit.

The funding was part of a statewide announcement made by David Toland, Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce, who revealed that $1 million in Attraction Development Grant funding has been distributed to enhance tourism projects across Kansas. The program supports initiatives that strengthen visitors’ experiences while driving local economic growth through job creation, private investment, and increased visitation.

“Investments in tourism and our state attractions have been a powerful driver in economic growth for our communities of all sizes and for all of Kansas,” said Toland. “By pairing state support with local commitment, we’re expanding tourism opportunities that create positive economic returns by bringing more out-of-state visitors and out-of-state dollars to Kansas.”

This latest round of funding will support 22 projects statewide. Together, recipients are committing more than $12 million in matching funds to bring these projects to life.

“Travelers in Kansas are looking for experiences that feel authentic, creative and rooted in place,” said Bridgette Jobe, Director of Kansas Tourism. “The grants are designed to help turn unique and inspiring ideas into tangible projects that will support and encourage visitation while elevating local economies.”

Rolling Hills Zoo’s Tiger Falls exhibit will be a dynamic new attraction designed to showcase Asian species, including Amur tigers, snow leopards, and red pandas, while offering guests an immersive and educational wildlife experience. The project represents a significant investment in both conservation education and regional tourism.

The Zoo was honored during a recent check presentation event attended by representatives from Kansas Tourism, the Rolling Hills Zoo Board of Directors, Dane G. Hansen Foundation, Jack Wilson Charitable Trust, Visit Salina, and staff from Rolling Hills Zoo.

“This grant is an exciting step forward for Rolling Hills Zoo and for the Salina community,” said Ryan VanZant, RHZ Executive Director. “Tiger Falls will not only enhance the guest experience but will also strengthen our mission of wildlife conservation and education while drawing new visitors to our region.”
