MITCHELL COUNTY—Five people were injured in an accident just before 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mitchell County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2020 Ford F150 driven by Max Chase, 86, Beloit, was southbound on Kansas Highway 14 approaching the U.S. Highway 24 intersection.
The driver failed to yield right of way. A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Ryan D. Mackay, 41, Cawker City, struck the Ford. After impact, the Ford came to rest in the ditch.
EMS transported Chase and a passenger in the Ford, identified as Naomi E. Chase, 82, Beloit, Mackay and passengers in the Silverado, Leroy E. Goppert, 31, and a 13-year-old girl both from Cawker City, to the Mitchell County Hospital. The passengers in the Silverado were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
